Telecom Italia Sparkle enables first LTE roaming between South America and Europe thanks to its IPX Diameter signaling solution

TIM Brazil’s and Telecom Italia’s mobile LTE customers will benefit from top quality 4G roaming when travelling between Brazil and Italy.

Telecom Italia Sparkle’s LTE Diameter Signaling service is the first LTE roaming solution between South America and Europe that will enable 4G roaming for TIM Brazil and TIM LTE customers when travelling between Italy and Brazil, with guaranteed top quality of service.

TIM and TIM Brazil are leading mobile players in their home markets, respectively Italy and Brazil. TI Sparkle is Telecom Italia Group’s international operator and it has developed a global IPX network with LTE roaming peering agreements spanning from Europe to North America and Asia.

TIM and TIM Brazil will make LTE roaming available to their respective end customers in 2014. Brazil is a 4G pioneer in South America and LTE roaming availability in the country gains particular relevance in view of the upcoming World’s football championship in mid-2014.

TI Sparkle has developed a top quality LTE Roaming Exchange service based on a state-of-the-art and largely interconnected global IPX platform providing seamless IP private connections among operators who are able to offer their own mobile subscribers the same quality of service as in their home network, while roaming.

IPX offers a next-generation alternative to the internet that combines the flexibility and efficiency of the IP world with the security and reliability of traditional networks. This is particularly significant for network operators as they transition to an all-IP environment to capture efficiencies and support new services such as LTE Roaming, Voice over LTE, HD voice and video, IP videoconferencing and IMS/RCS-based enhanced communication applications.

Telecom Italia Sparkle’s
IPX and LTE roaming solutions offer mobile operators worldwide the following advantages:

  • opex and capex reduction for wholesale transport services by integrating all IP solutions onto a single interconnection and at the same time offering access to new revenue generating services for their mobile subscribers;
  • guaranteed top quality of service and security;
  • fast go-to-market for innovative and differentiated 4G services including the delivery of IP-based voice, data and rich multimedia communication services on any device;
  • set of web-based tools with comprehensive traffic and qualitative KPIs reporting

which make TI Sparkle’s IPX based LTE Diameter solutions the easiest opportunity worldwide for operators planning to offer 4G roaming.
