Telecom Italia Sparkle consolidates IP services leadership in Africa with new POP in Tanzania

With recent developments in West Africa and the newly reinforced presence in the Southern and Eastern regions of the Continent, Sparkle is now positioned as leading IP Gateway in Africa.

TI Sparkle, the International Services arm of Telecom Italia Group announces a new partnership with Tanzania Telecommunication Company (TTCL) for the delivery of IP services in South and East Africa through a new point of presence in Dar es Salam, Tanzania.

TI Sparkle and TTCL will provide new cost effective, high quality and secure fully protected global IP connectivity solutions to TLC operators, ISPs and service providers that are connected to Dar es Salam through major international submarine and terrestrial cable systems.

The agreement with TTCL is the latest of a series of local partnerships TI Sparkle has been able to pioneer and develop in several fast growing markets in Africa.

“The new partnership with TTCL and Sparkle’s recent developments in West Africa show how fast we are growing in Africa, a continent where we intend to continue to invest in terms of resources and in terms of commercial effort”, says Elisabetta Ripa, CEO of TI Sparkle. “The key to our growth is selecting the right partners in relevant markets and defining agreements that effectively combine network assets, product leadership and know-how, thus generating value for both entities involved and for the markets the partnership serves”.

The new POP reinforces TI Sparkle’s positioning in East and South Africa, where the company has already developed a major presence in Djibouti thanks to the longstanding partnership with Djibouti Telecom. Considering TI Sparkle’s latest expansion in West Africa and its historical presence in the Northern part of the continent, TI Sparkle is today positioned as leading IP services Gateway in Africa.
