TI Sparkle implements Network Functions Virtualization managing live VoIP/IPX traffic

TI Sparkle announces the deployment of a new Network Function Virtualization platform (NFV platform) for the management of international VoIP services, fully integrated with its own existing softswitch based voice platform.

NFV is an agile, unified and multi-vendor platform supporting different applications which offers many advantages including reduced capex, higher scalability, improved operational efficiency and faster Go-to-Market for new services.

The implemented Virtual Network Function is able to manage the entire call handling process and is fully operational on live traffic exchanged with more than 80 VoIP Carrier/Service Providers.

The new platform represents a major step towards a full migration to a NFV architecture which aims at reducing network complexity and at, introducing flexibility and agility in network resources management.

In particular, TI Sparkle’s NFV platform is based on high performance carrier-class computing and storage infrastructure, best-of-breed commercial hypervisor layer, able to guarantee scalability and high levels of performance.

The final target is the deployment of a multiservice (voice, video, RCS) standard compliant IMS NFV based platform to enhance Sparkle’s value proposition within a dynamic ICT ecosystem.
