Sparkle Expands Its Reach in Chile with a New Point of Presence in Huechuraba

The PoP adds to the existing points of presence in Santiago, strengthening the performance of Sparkle’s global IP Transit service Seabone and consolidating its positioning as first Tier-1 IP backbone in South America

Rome, 6 September 2019

Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, announces the expansion of its IP backbone in Chile with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Huechuraba.

Fully interconnected with Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone Seabone, Huechuraba adds to the existing two PoPs in Santiago, providing high-speed Internet connectivity to the local market as well as to international OTT’s, ISPs, content and application providers. DDoS Mitigation & Cleaning services - which grant Seabone customers the option to protect their network – and Virtual NAP solutions - that provide virtual access to the main Internet Exchange Points - complete Sparkle’s portfolio of services offered via the Huechuraba PoP.

The new PoP adds to the recent interconnection to PIT Chile in Santiago, a public, neutral and open Internet Exchange Point (IXP), first in Chile and among the top IXPs in South America. By joining PIT Chile’s ecosystem, Sparkle is able to offer Virtual NAP solutions to local and regional operators wishing to access the peering community without having to implement and manage a proprietary infrastructure, as well as IP Transit services to all the IXP members.

The new PoP in Huechuraba and the interconnection to PIT Chile consolidate Sparkle’s positioning as first Tier-1 IP backbone in Latin America, thanks to its proprietary and redundant state-of-the-art network crossing eight countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
