Sparkle: First Provider in Greece to Be Certified for the Use of Renewable Energies in Its Data Centers
The certification of the data centers in Athens, Koropi and Chania confirms the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability

Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, announces that its subsidiary in Greece has been certified for the use of renewable energies at its data centers in Metamorfosis (Athens), Koropi and Chania.
The Certificate of Origin - issued by Hellenic Petroleum and Edison (ELPEDISON), one of the most environment friendly electricity production companies in Greece - attests that from May 2020 100% of the electricity used by Sparkle and by all its Colocation customers is obtained from renewable sources with zero carbon emissions.
The Certificate of Origin follows the ISO 14001:2015, attained by Sparkle Greece in 2018 for its environmental management system, and the former ISO 9001:2015, 27001:2013 and PCI-DSS certifications, confirming once again the company’s commitment to sustainability.
In Greece Sparkle is leader in the Cloud and Data Center market, with a 40% share in the Colocation business and over one hundred customers including service providers, system integrators, institutions, local and multinational companies, in continuous growth. The company is also finalizing the construction of its fourth data center in Greece, Metamorfosis II, whose completion and entry into service of the first module is scheduled for early 2021 and that will provide the country with one of the largest and most advanced "green" data centers in Europe.
In the last two years the Company has been investing on environmental sustainability in all its data centers – including also the two in Italy and the one in Turkey – through several energy-related interventions aimed at improving their efficiency, reliability and security.
