Cable & Wireless and Telecom Italia Sparkle team up to offer enhanced international MPLS Services

Cable & Wireless, the international telecommunications company, and Telecom Italia Sparkle, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecom Italia focused on international services, today announced that they are to interconnect their multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks to offer enhanced services to their carrier customers.

The deal reinforces the capabilities of the Italian carrier in the UK and of Cable & Wireless in Italy. Furthermore, the carriers may leverage each other’s strengths, such as the Far East and Central America for Cable & Wireless and the Mediterranean Basin and South America for Telecom Italia Sparkle, in order to enhance their competitiveness in key areas.

Both Cable & Wireless and Telecom Italia Sparkle have developed advanced carrier grade MPLS services to meet the demanding needs of the carrier wishing to deliver time-sensitive or business critical IP services, such as voice and video, to its end customers worldwide.
