Tunisie Telecom Selects Sparkle to Activate its First 100 Gbps IP Transit Connectivity Port
The new 100GB connectivity option responds to the increasing demand of digital content in North Africa and confirms Sparkle Sicily Hub as the main IP gateway of the Mediterranean

Sparkle, the International Services arm of TIM Group and among the top ten global operators, and Tunisie Telecom, the leading Telecom Services Operator for both residential and business broadband solutions in Tunisia, announce today the upgrade of Tunisie Telecom’s international IP transit connectivity through the activation of a 100G port at Sparkle Sicily Hub in Palermo.
The new 100G port represents Tunisie Telecom’s main trunk to Europe and responds to the fast growing demand of advanced IP services and digital content in Tunisia, providing increased diversity options and a best in class data experience to Tunisie Telecom’s consumers and businesses.
The deal confirms Sparkle’s relevant role in providing top quality, advanced and cost efficient IP solutions to customers in North Africa and marks a further strengthening of Sicily Hub as the main Internet Hub in the Mediterranean area.
Located closer to North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East than any other European peering point, Sparkle Sicily Hub grants better latency and enhanced application performances to its customers. It is also connected to all cables landing stations in Sicily is served by Seabone, Sparkle’s Tier 1-grade Global IP Transit service.
