Sparkle to Showcase Live Quantum Safe Multi-site Connectivity at MWC 2025
With this point-to-multipoint PoC between MWC25 Barcelona and Sparkle Methamorphosis II data center in Athens, Sparkle, together with Adtran, Arqit and Intel, demonstrates the ability to deliver future proof, Quantum Safe, Network as a Service (NaaS) connectivity over its international backbone and mobile 5G network
The company’s pioneering Quantum Safe over Internet (QSI) solution shortlisted for the GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards in the “Best Network Software Breakthrough” category
Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top global operators, demonstrates during Mobile World Congress 2025 its latest Proof of Concept (PoC) showcasing live Quantum Safe connections from Barcelona to Sparkle’s Data Center in Athens.
The live PoC presents Sparkle’s Quantum Safe over Internet (QSI) NaaS-based solution for quantum-resistant encrypted traffic, securely transmitted from two uCPEs in Barcelona to Athens via Sparkle’s backbone and 5G network. Leveraging Intel-based NetSec Accelerator Cards to enhance throughput and reduce CPU load, the PoC underscores the feasibility of deploying quantum-resistant security in operational networks.
Sparkle’s QSI initiative is aligned with the insights outlined in the recently published whitepaper, DELIVERING SECURE CONNECTIVITY FOR THE FUTURE: SPARKLE LAUNCHES QUANTUM SAFE OVER INTERNET (QSI), which emphasizes the urgency of adopting quantum-secure technologies to safeguard global communications. As quantum computing capabilities advance, traditional encryption methods face increasing vulnerabilities, making early adoption of quantum-safe measures essential.
Moreover, thanks to this project and together with Adtran, Arqit and Intel, Sparkle has been shortlisted for the GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards 2025 in the category of Best Network Software Breakthrough, a recognition that highlights the company’s commitment to advancing secure network services in the era of quantum computing.
The nomination acknowledges QSI as a major step forward in securing data transmission against future quantum threats. By leveraging cutting-edge encryption technologies and integrating them into an agile Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) framework, Sparkle is leading the transition toward a more resilient and high-performance internet infrastructure.
“We are excited to showcase our latest advancements in Quantum Safe networking and honored to be shortlisted for the GLOMO Awards at MWC 2025” said Antonella Sanguineti, VP Head of MPM - Networking, Cloud, Security & Identity Solutions at Sparkle. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to innovation and security, ensuring that our customers benefit from future-proof solutions in an evolving digital landscape.”
MWC25 attendees are invited to experience Sparkle’s live PoC at the Intel booth (Hall 3, Stand 3E31) and engage with experts to explore the real-world applications of quantum-secure networking.
