Carbon Neutral Hosting of TIM Group Websites

Every day, millions of people access TIM Group websites to obtain information, work, purchase services, or explore topics related to technology. The operation of websites and digital services involves energy consumption associated with servers, hosting infrastructures, cooling systems, and data traffic. These activities generate greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to environmental impact.

In order to mitigate this impact, TIM Group offsets the emissions generated by the hosting and operation of its main websites through the purchase and cancellation of certified carbon credits.

For the year 2025, emissions equal to 505 tonnes of greenhouse gases were calculated and neutralized through support of The Envira Amazonia REDD+ Project in Brazil, contributing to the preservation of the Amazon Rainforest, a key ecosystem for global CO₂ absorption.

The Envira Amazonia REDD+ Project

REDD (Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) refers to international initiatives aimed at preventing emissions caused by deforestation and forest degradation. The Envira Amazonia project falls within this framework and is designed to avoid greenhouse gas emissions through forest conservation.

The project is certified under the Verra VCS standard, one of the leading global standards for the validation and verification of emission-reduction initiatives. It is also validated under the CCBS (Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards) with Triple Gold Level Distinction, a recognition granted to projects that generate significant benefits in terms of climate mitigation, biodiversity protection, and support for local communities.

In addition to forest conservation activities, the supported initiative includes actions dedicated to Indigenous populations, such as the construction and management of medical and dental clinics, the installation of community sanitation facilities, and the distribution of prevention kits against waterborne and insect-borne diseases, with the objective of improving health conditions and quality of life in the involved areas.

Methodology for Emission Calculation and Neutralization

Emission quantification was carried out using the CO₂web® methodology developed by ReteClima and verified by the ICMQ Certification Body. The calculation considers the energy consumption of servers hosting the websites and all related operational services.

Once quantified, emissions were neutralized through the cancellation of carbon credits generated by The Envira Amazonia REDD+ Project.

Carbon Credit Cancellation

Emission-reduction projects generate measurable and certified results. Each tonne of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂eq) avoided or reduced corresponds to a carbon credit recorded within international registries. Companies may purchase a number of carbon credits equivalent to the tonnes of CO₂eq they intend to neutralize.

Following purchase, the credits are cancelled in official registries. Cancellation permanently removes the credits from circulation, ensuring they cannot be resold or reused and guaranteeing the integrity and transparency of the neutralization process.

Commitment to Sustainable Digital Development

This initiative forms part of a broader sustainability strategy, including the use of renewable energy sources, the improvement of energy efficiency across infrastructures — including Data Centers — and the development of digital solutions that enable businesses and individuals to reduce their environmental footprint.

Through continuous improvement initiatives, TIM Group aims to make digital services increasingly efficient and environmentally responsible.
