Telecom Italia Sparkle and Bharti Telesoft MOU Announce Joint Launch of a New Prepaid Roaming Hub Solution for Mobile Operators

Telecom Italia Sparkle and Bharti Telesoft today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly work on the commercial launch of a new Prepaid Roaming Hub value added solution for mobile operators globally. The Prepaid Roaming Hub solution enables prepaid roamers to recharge their accounts while roaming on a third party operator’s network. According to VisionGain the market for roaming recharges is estimated to reach 410 million recharges by 2011, generating US$2 billion in revenues.

IMEWE Submarine Cable Consortium awards contract for the project

A consortium of nine leading international telcos have signed the Construction and Maintenance Agreement (C&MA) and the Supply Contract for a high-capacity fiber-optic submarine cable system that stretches from Mumbai, India to Catania, Italy and Marseille France via Gulf and Middle East. IMEWE - India, Middle East, Western Europe - the three fibre pair, new generation submarine cable system shall have minimum design capacity of 3.84 terabits per second and cover a distance of approximately 13,000 kilometers.
